ZUMBA

What's Zumba?! Zumba is a latin-based workout that is fun, effective, easy to do! It's now at Santa Cruz Dance Company with 15 classes a week, so come dance and see a fitter you! Zumba Basic classes (T/Th at 10 am and Sat at 9 am) are great for seniors and those seeking out a slower paced version of our regular Zumba classes.

For years I had been looking for a dance class where I could feel comfortable to brush up on my skills and learn something new. Zumba is exactly that...and the highlight of my week! My job is very stressful and exhausting, but coming to Zumba 3 to 4 times a week makes me feel physically and emotional rejuvenated. I have gained muscle and lost weight - a whole pant size in just over a month! Zumba is way more fun and a much better workout than anything I've ever experienced at my gym. Joy is an amazing teacher, which is evident by the increasing number of students that come to Zumba each week, and keep coming back for more!

I haven't taken a dance class in years and certainly have never thought of myself as a dancer. I was searching for an activity to help me lose the extra weight I've carried since the birth of my son, keeping in mind a study Dr. Dean Edell reported which found that people enjoy a greater health benefit from exercise when it is something they have fun doing. Then I discovered Zumba with Joy Smith! Zumba is the perfect combination of fitness and dance, and Joy is such a talented teacher, you don't have to be a superstar dancer to get a lot out of it. It's fast-moving and fun, and the music is so infectious, the songs stay with you long after the class has ended. I can't recommend Zumba enough.

When I took my first Zumba class, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I'd been waiting all my life for this. The music is so much fun! It makes me want to sing and shout. The moves are ridiculously sexy, but its an exercise class, and no one is judging me, so I just do my best and get crazy. Within minutes, I am sweating up a storm, but I don't want to stop, and slowing down is really not an option. Within 2 weeks, I was really catching on, and definitely more aerobically fit. Aside from the obvious cardiovascular health benefit, it also allowed me to be able to participate in various other activities with more vigor. Use your imagination. I was even able to run on the treadmill; something I have not even attempted in about a year! I'm hooked, and would recommend this to anyone who loves to dance and wants a good work out.

Zumba is the best new dance/exercise class out there! The music is invigorating, the moves are sassy, sexy and guaranteed to get that heart rate up! From the moment you walk on the dance floor to for the warm up until the cool down, it is non stop fun. You are actually sad when the class is over! MORE ZUMBA PLEASE!

I LOVE IT! I took one class and became addicted to the high energy and funky moves. My favorite part is its style - you get to express yourself while working on your core. Anybody can do it! It is easy to learn, yet you sweat like CRAZY! Additionally, taking Zumba at a dance studio is Awesome because you get to mimic an experienced dancer, which makes your moves look that much cooler (as opposed to taking Zumba at the gym!).

For anyone who enjoys the upbeat tempo of Latin music and dance along with exercise, Zumba offers all that and more! The combination of fun, exercise and learning is something I really enjoy. I have found Zumba to be energizing, engaging and entertaining. Unlike many other forms of exercise, Zumba seems to cross all gender and age lines beautifully. Classes I have taken included men, women in their 20's, 30's 40's, 50's and probably 70's (I was too polite to ask), as well as children. Try it and you'll be hooked!

I've been a dancer all of my life and I''ve tried all kinds of workouts, but this one is my absolute favorite because it combines dance with an excellent over-all workout. It's the only thing that gets me out of bed on Sunday mornings and I have a smile on my face throughout the entire class!

With out a doubt, I have thoroughly enjoyed coming to the new ZUMBA classes held at the Santa Cruz Dance Company. I started coming about a month ago and loved the workout after taking my first class. The music, moves and energy make it fun & effortless but at the end of an hour my body feels like I did a 4-mile run, without the wear and tear on my knees. This is the reason I'm hooked on it. I love to dance and this new 'ZUMBA-craze' makes you feel super good every time. I highly recommend that anyone who gets bored with regular workout routines or wants to spice up there existing one, try ZUMBA. You won't regret it. See you there!!!
